"Stay Golden" Toy Drive

Cherokee FCCLA hosts a toy drive each December to benefit pediatric cancer patients in Oklahoma. This toy drive, named the "Stay Golden" Toy Drive, is in honor of Kenzie Golden, a Cherokee FCCLA Alumni and former local officer. Kenzie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was a freshman at Cherokee High School. The toy drive was an initiative of Kenzie's after she was released from the hospital and in remission. She began this drive to honor the memory of those she met during her time in the University of Oklahoma's Children's Hospital. The toys collected each year are donated at the Children's Hospital Cancer Wing, Stem Cell Unit, and the Jimmy Everest Center.
